Environment

Environmental appropriateness and the compatibility of the designs, encourage communal participation and engagement. We incorporate our design tactic around the specific site and its characteristics. Always keeping Eco-Evaluation as the vanguard of our quintessential practice, I D & C welcomes external input and promotes team participation and resonance. Prior to the design, we assess the features of the site…in the case of new construction, or adapt existing conditions to a lucid, functional and aesthetically pleasing program. We keep an open mind and are flexible to achieve through design techniques the clients’ goals and objectives.

Our team embraces the use of technology and its effects on “real-time” decisions. Through the use of modern computing environments and faster communication services (i.e., “cloud” based platforms, control tools, remote networking, etc.), we are focused on instantaneous responses for stake-holders’ benefits.

Our CAD software includes conflict clashes, 3D modeling and the latest in visualization and photo-realistic/inoperable platforms and Building Information Modeling (a.k.a. BIM). These tools provide a level of comfort for consultant coordination, graphic representation and client interpretation. We are capable of reducing the production time required throughout the design phases and construction documents procedures. By encouraging the use of these and other technologically advanced production tools, we add another dimension of improved document coordination amongst consultants, team members, contractors and end users for the betterment of the successful project.

There are commitments from our team members and management that align with your expectations and objectives. We have control of our assigned personnel and their involvement with the assignments. Over the years, our staff have worked on various types of structures effectively and as members of panels or as lead…albeit in different capacities. We look forward and welcome the challenge of participating with the University of Connecticut and contributing to your built environment.

Integrated Design and Construction is a full service Architecture, Construction Management and Sustainable Design firm based in Connecticut. We have completed nearly one million square feet…through direct and indirect work, throughout the Northeast region of the country.

The Managing Principal (Thaddeus Stewart) has worked with Architectural, Construction and Development firms throughout his professional development. His firm has developed professional associations with other seasoned professionals in Architecture, Construction, Engineering and Management. Through these associations, “I D & C” has complimented Owners project teams within design, project management and construction administration.

We currently have a staff of three full-time and twenty two part-time employees. The part-time employees have worked with us in the field in our Masonry contracting business over the past ten months.

Our qualifications encompass Architecture, Construction Management/Administration, Owners’ representation and Self-Performed Masonry on projects ranging in size/scope from $190,000 masonry installation to over $37M Mixed-Use residential, $40M Elementary School Adaptive Re-Use and more than $200M Research & Development/Medical/Healthcare developments.

There are allied professionals that we have established working relations with over the years and are now on our team for professional services. Civil Engineering and Site Improvements is mastered through our relationship with the Freeman Companies. Together, we have orchestrated Architectural/Engineering design, “Front End” documentation, Construction Administration/supervision and Closeout coordination and oversight.

Since our inception in 2007, we have represented owners’ intentions through Architecture, Construction Management, Sustainable Design, new construction, renovation/fit-outs and restoration projects. Typically, we have acted on the Owners’ behalf from inception through completion. We established…with the assistance of the client, the logistics of the project and the team’s expectations during pre-design, design and construction documents, bidding, pre-construction and construction phases of a project. The submittals process, request for information, scheduling and budgets tracking…just to name a few of the projects’ professional services tasks. We have generated and run the project Meetings, including minutes, review and updates of schedules, budgets and change orders. Our comfort zone is architecture, coordination, communicating our clients’ directives, value engineering and project oversight.

We capture the essence of the project through constant consultation with the project team and relay the instructions to the team for implementation. Creating good communication and respect of the team members is always paramount during the project, so we have interpersonal skills that relate well with the Owner, Architect and Contractor office staff.
